This is Brad.  He’s been one of my best friends for… 13 years?  He and I played all through high school together, won a few marching world championships with one another, went to college together for a couple of years (while he got his Masters, I was finishing my undergrad), and taught a handful of really great percussion groups together.  He now holds a doctorate.  So… he’s pretty good at what he does.

I FINALLY HAVE A WEBSITE, Y’ALL!!!
Click the image to check it out, please! It’s still kinda messy as far as organization goes, but whatev. I’ll refine that later. And my artist statement isn’t that solid yet. Nor is the title for the series on the home page. But Imma refine that, too. And Imma add some notes that the people wrote about themselves once I scan those in.

Dope!

"I was there to take down the names of people who were arrested… As I’m standing there, some African-American woman goes up to a police officer and says, ‘I need to get in. My daughter’s there. I want to know if she’s OK.’ And he said, ‘Move on, lady.’ And they kept pushing with their sticks, pushing back. And she was crying. And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he throws her to the ground and starts hitting her in the head,” says Smith. “I walk over, and I say, ‘Look, cuff her if she’s done something, but you don’t need to do that.’ And he said, ‘Lady, do you want to get arrested?’ And I said, ‘Do you see my hat? I’m here as a legal observer.’ He said, ‘You want to get arrested?’ And he pushed me up against the wall."

I am testing tumblr from my phone. Here is the Evening with Me and Amanda picture. (Portland, SF and Vancouver have sold out. There are still tickets for LA and Seattle. )
It’s by Cynthia Von Buhler, and is an actual paper cut out.

Dying to see one of these.  Can’t move soon enough.
